The American Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber), a symbol of tropical paradises lives along the coasts of the Caribbean Sea and the northern coasts of South America. It also breeds on the Galapagos islands. At one time found in the estuaries of Florida, due to urbanization, it has been pushed far south into the Everglades.
